50% of the voters will get a result that never hoped for. What will happens to the market thereafter. So whoever wins, market will dip for a short period or a long period depending on future economic policy.

Comment welcome.

Market will continue this trend unless MR wins..... There is a very high possibility MR will loose this time...

MR has no chance this time. Even he comes he will take decisions wisely. If UNP cant win alone, surely national government can be formed.

My opinion is also that UNP has an upper hand at this elections. However, marekt performance will be a factor of their policy post-elections. Especially given the election promises and the lack of clarity on how these are financed by the government. And also how these are going to affect corporate earnings. (For instance, they are suggesting a private sector salary increment, which will impact bottomline of companies unless the salary hike helps increase productivity like what happends in public sector). So there are so many such things that will come in to play when it comes to market performance. (surely not in the very short term)

I have a bad feeling this will not last long. Tomorrow we might see a lot of profit taking and a slack market in the first few weeks after elections.

The message Quibit is conveying is the possibility of MR winning. If so MR will always want to maintain a good rapport with MS, after all there are no permanent enemies or friends in politics. Furthermore MR & MS grew up together in the same party for decades.

As far as the economic progress & development is concerned both MR & Ranil are committed to see a new look Sri Lanka.

In a lighter vein, i wonder whether Quibit is on a collection spree on those laabai! laabai! counters. Can market be bearish after election? Icon_lol

It is going to be very interesting period for frontier markets and Sri-Lankan market will be in forefront.  We could see another new chapter in the market. Those who do home work constantly will become winners in any type of market. In every situation there are opportunities. Just like last couple of days, even after election some stocks can go down and some stocks can go up strongly. We should see demand for stocks according to the stage of market in the coming months. How about sidelined government institutional investors coming to the market? There are two types of stocks to watch are:

  • Strong future winners
  • Out of favour stocks ready to go up strongly

Don’t miss the fastest phases in the bull market. In bull market, short term pause, minor volatility and pull back etc create great opportunities.

Good luck!
