Most of the BFI shares are reasonably valued considering future potential therefore any rally would put them into overvalued territory.

Bank rallies are just pipe dreams of CSE retailers! Without huge funds ( mainly foreign) The banking sector shares can't be moved upwards by a large %!

Seyb will come down tomorrow, this is not an exceptional result. NTB,PABC will produce a better result than this.

Given the past results and possible future prospects I find NTB abd LFIN very attractive at current prices ( based on PE)

Based on NAV DFCC has a very good Price Book Value in the sector.

Actually there are a quite a few bank shares which are attractive long term investments.

SAMP ,NDB and COMB are good picks too, but sometimes relatively smaller but up and coming banks can deliver better results and hence capital gains if those companies are managed correctly.

For a established larger/matured banks like NDB to double their profit might take longer time and significant effort than up and coming banks like NTB with might be expanding faster if managed right. Hope you get what am saying.

For short term, banks like MBSL, PABC can give trading gains if bought at right price and disposed. BTW if MBSL turns around this quarter ( had a bad quarter in the last one), it can easily go up more than Rs45 in the medium term with a run ( that about 25% again from Rs 37) .

But all said, we need to look at this quarter to get an idea about whether all these banks growth is sustainable. When I said NTB I presuming it delivers results closer or exceeding what it delivered last quarter.

SEYB came back to profits as expected but it was not that special.

@slstock

Thank you for the explanation. During the first half of the current year COMB has achieved 75% more than same period last year in terms of profits. SAMP its 57% and DFCC about 70%(removinng gains made on sale of COMB shares).
I do agree with you that NTB is in the best position to double profits. If i remember correctly the broker forecast is aroung 1.5Bn for the current year for NTB.
We can really decide where all banks are heading with Sept quarterly results.
Thx agin for the time taken for a very clear explanation.

@Niwa

fully agree with what u hv said on NTB. NTB service is very good. What i thought is that looking at half year results other banks are not doing too badly as well. Lets see september results which will shed more light to where all, these banks are heading to.
Other important consideration for NTB is the quite a substancial stake JKH has to divest before 31st March 2012 as per regulatory requirement. This could have a big impact on the share price
