if you think lanka-e-news is a news website you must have rather lax standards for what you call journalism.

I have decided t not to write anything on the site, However after seeing this , i can not stay away.

To reply you, its not the government to decide this. let readers to decide it. if you go by this definition, standards journalism in Govt media is ever worse!

Only opposition media is coming under this criteria should be blocked?

People are clearly not in a position to decide which news is made up and what isn't. They simply don't have enough information at their disposal to do this. What you can have is the media being responsible and regulating themselves, but that clearly doesn't happen here. especially when it comes to internet media. In that case either the government or some other body, ideally independent, should regulate them. We do this with just about everything from telecommunication to pharmaceuticals. Media should not be above and beyond that. Just forget about everything, even LBO was trying to create/reinforce rumors about JKH being expropriated.

You are talking about perfect democracy. Who disagree!
But , it is not to curb independent ( rather ) views! This should be applied to regardless of ownership including ITN & Dinamina

Yes, It should be applied across the board

Trying to control things mean something is not right.
You can fool some people all the time.................. but you know the rest? Very Happy

Yes.. I am also against the blocking of web site or any thing. give the freedom to pepole to think and read.. Pepole are not babies.. They have ears to listen..mouth to talk...They can decide what to read.. what to eat..what to wear .. this is the so call freedom. If web site has pubished wrong thing it can take to court..

I was very happy whith the governemt when they won with the LTTE..But the path now they are going is not good. I think main issue is their is no strong oppsition to stand against,

If anymedia publish/telecast/broadcast etc utter nonsense without any facts continuosly it should be banned.
No one can go courts for every nonsense in media. It is not practical and it is waste of time and money.

All the web site.. published with the facts.. only thing no one knows weather this are true or not.. same for the governemnt control media.. is facts on the news is true

if they went to court one time... then any web site will not publish false articles.

Give the pepole to listen/read and decide.

Fact:-A thing that is known or can be proved to have happened,to be true or to exit(oxford dictionary).
There can not be true fact and untrue fact. Wink

Negative ratings means we pay more for borrowing and therefore lose money by paying interest! Post war with 8% economic growth and blah blah blah AND NEGATIVE CREDIT RATING! What is the message a investor gets???

Cheers!

Government going to loose more money and opportunities than the assets they acquired.
This is like Mahadanamuttha's advice to "Kill the Goat to Save the Pot and then Break the Pot to get the Goat Head".(Eluwath Marala, Muttiyath Biindagaththa). This is a classic example of their incompetency in managing economy though they were competent enough to win the War against terrorism.

Their sole purpose was to give these valuable lands to their Henchmen with a good commission for them too.
