Nov 27, 2011 (LBT) – By 2013, Katunayake will be the final end of the Southern Expressway, President Mahinda Rajapakse said today.

Addressing a public rally held at the Karandeniya Public Grounds, after declaring open the country’s first expressway, Sri Lankan President stated that Super highways linking Colombo with the cities of Kandy, Trincomalee and Jaffna are in the process of completion.

safe to drive ....fuel saving ..... no cows crossing the roads ..one of the problems facing travelers is stray dogs...these issues need to be resolved like in developed nations... rabies is still prevalent .... roads are not safe...at least 3 dead animals were on the highway ....one villager was seen walking on the side...

difficult to stay in the left lane if the animals try to cross the roads unexpectedly , passengers at risk.....

This we could have done easily with the money we lost (One Billion US$) in the fuel hedging.
A Six Lane Express way from Point Pedro to Dondra or a ring road right around the country. Shocked

Not that expensive ..proper implementation of Island-wide stray dog control program may prevent large number of deaths due to accidents...

See what has happened to unauthorized animals trying to walk along the highway…. Pedestrians who try to use highways illegally may have seen the animals lying down along the highway……

stopped for a cup of tea and changed the driving seat after going out from Kaluthara area interchange .... until rest area and fuel station is opened for the public, best thing is to exit from the highway and reenter..
costs only additional 50 rupees... on exit to Kaluthara 250 and to re enter and exit at Kottawa 200

stop for a tea break on a highway is not only illegal it can cost lot more than just a 5000 rupee fine... damages to vehicles and nowadays coffins cost more than 100000 .

parking on the side and speeding could endanger others lives as well...small Children needs baby seats fixed with seat belts on the back seats and small kids should never travel in front seats...
