We should ideally look at dividend payments over the past 2-3 years at least...
When I ask experts about Dividend Yield, they always refer to CTC, NEST and LLUB.
Of these 3 shares, LLUB gives the highest dividend yield at the moment (Yield = Rs 12.25/Rs 169 = 7.25%).
If anyone knows of anything better, please let us know...

You are correct Antonym. We need to see the continuity of the dividend declared.
Some of the shares in my mind gave nice dividend compare to their counterparts in the respective sector.
(Please note I didn't take into consideration shares which do have Fwd PER for the current FY in red)
NEST 34.50/866.10=3.98%
CTC 27.17/450=6.03%
DIMO (Excluding Scrip) 30/1257=2.38%
AMAYA 6/83.90=7.15%
TOKYO CEMENT(X) 1.65/30.4= 5.42
COMB(X) 5/72.30= 6.91%
DFCC 10/109= 9.17%
HNB(X) 7/86= 8.13%
JINS 1/14.10= 7.09%
UNION ASSURANCE 6.25/100.40= 6.22%
BALA 2/26= 7.69%
KOTAGALA 10/67= 14.92%

Most of the above shares will give handful dividend in future? That is the million dollar question.

CTC - A recent sub divition, the dividend values could have to be proportionate..
AMAYA - I think the huge div was after the REEF sell out, this could be a one-off.
BALA - Was in the loss making teritory after the wage hike issue, may take time to recover..
JINS - Fairly good dividend for the price..

Apart from this HOPL has also given a good 4 rupee div when the share was around 60s..That was around 15% yield..
But I think this cannot be repeated due to wage hike provisional payments to be carried out to next year as well.

If nest Dividend yield is 3.98%, then it's not high ne, isn't it?
