Colombo Port, among the world's top 25 ports, plays a pivotal role as a strategic maritime hub, streamlining container traffic in the region. The development of the West Container Terminal (WCT) at Colombo Port is poised to boost its global ranking to 20th place, reinforcing its role as a vital regional hub and enhancing its global shipping connectivity ranking. The completed WCT will be Sri Lanka's largest and deepest terminal, featuring a 1,400-meter quay and a 20-meter alongside depth, equipped to handle Ultra Large Container Vessels (ULCVs) with a capacity exceeding 3.2 million TEUs annually.
