Feb 24, 2012 (LBT) - The Colombo Stock Exchange introduced the new ATS (version 7) today and it can be said that the new system was not well received by the brokering community. The Brokers have been at odds with the new system since time the changeover was announced a few months ago.
The new ATS has led to a lot of confusion with the system not been viewed as very user friendly. Some of the shortcoming of the new system is the non-separation of the normal and odd boards. Many of the senior brokers have expressed their disappointment for the new platform and this has led to a very lethargic day at the Colombo bourse. Both indices and volumes are down for the day.
The Colombo Stock Exchange was on the a upward movement this week after falling dramatically last week below the psychological 5000 point barrier, the changeover has led many a investor to think the bullish momentum of the week will have a premature and abrupt end.
