The JKH stake deal between the EPF of LK and the Khazanah Nasional Bhd of MY, was a Win - Win transaction for the both countries. The stronger Malaysian MYR is alarming its central bank to get rid of FC reserves as USD in order keep Malaysian production cost at the bay and be competitive with the Global arena. Meanwhile, we expect FDI s and the LKR up-trend pressure is constantly monitored by CBSL. Consult the graph herein that says it all ..

Could you explain what the graph means? Does it mean the LKR appreciated 12.7% after the sale? It seems LKR was at a new low today at 127.

Rajaraam, we all know that CBSL did not let appreciate LKR by disposing FC reserves in order to keep our inflow healthy as LKR is bullish against all the known hard currencies including USD these days. With these FC infusions in the form of FDI s, LKR will be strengthened once again. So, we have to monitor our LKR with the momentum of the Global Financial Market if we want to be an attractive place for FDI s. I think CBSL is doing the right thing to balance the current volatility of the global economy ..

aj, the time frame is from January 01, 2008 til January 01, 2012 that of four years. See how flat the mighty LKR behaved against USD. Then of course we all know that the CBSL did devalue the LKR purposely to attract the infusion of FDI s ( The elevation of the graph ). The Malaysian counterpart, in the other hand, they were relaxed on their MYR until recently but now they have to dispose their FC reserves in order to be competitive in this global volatile economic arena ..
