Apr 04, 2012 (LBT) - The bourse continued to witness block trades on fundamentally strong counters whilst retail sentiments remained dull, mainly owing to margin selling. The benchmark ASPI shed 15.74 points to close at 5,400 whilst the liquid MPI shed 8.06 points to close at 4,877. Total turnover for the day was over 1.1bn (Approximately USD 11.9 million) Total volume traded was close to 38 mn shares.

Trade Summary Market - 04/04/2012 4thapr10

Turnover again was dominated by off the market private deals as they amounted to 38% of the markets turnover. Leisure sector cap RHTL witnessed 13,676,350 shares change hands at Rs.18. The counter traded impressive volumes thereafter and closed at Rs.15.80 after reaching an intraday high of Rs.17. Conglomerate HAYL witnessed 370,000 shares change hands at Rs.370, The counter closed the day almost flat at Rs.360 Market heavyweight JKH also followed and witnessed a block of 274,832 shares change hands at Rs.208.

CFIN emerged as the top contributor towards the days turnover as over 1.7mn shares changed hands at Rs.170 on the normal board. Index heavy caps CTC and CARS also traded attractive volumes during the day and managed to be among the top 10 turnover generators for the day. CTC gained an impressive 11.7% to close at Rs.595 whilst CARS closed Rs.477 shedding marginally. Further, caps such as DIPD,NEST and CARG continued to witness cautious accumulation throughout the day mainly from high net worth’s and institutions.

Retail activity lacked liveliness once again as most counters witnessed heavy selling pressure. Retail favourites ERI,HVA and SFS closed the day shedding marginally whilst accumulation was seen on penny stocks BLUE.N,PAP and SEMB. In addition, retail volumes were topped by SEMB.X,ATL and EXPO whilst SHAL emerged as the top gainer on thin trade.
