April 23, 2012 (LBO) - Sri Lankan shares closed firmer Monday although turnover fell back to low levels despite some enthusiasm seen last week after regulators lifted price restrictions that triggered a knee-jerk rally, brokers said.

The main All Share Price Index rose 0.39 percent (21.03 points) to 5,478.16, while the more liquid Milanka index fell 0.41 percent (20.32) to close at 4,903.25.

Turnover fell to 247 million rupees, according to stock exchange provisional figures.

Index heavyweight John Keells Holdings closed flat at 206 rupees.

Commercial Bank was the most actively traded stock, closing at 105 rupees, up one rupee.

Citrus Leisure W0018 warrants were also actively traded, ending at 2.10 rupees, down 1.70 while Environmental Resources Investments close at 16.10 rupees, down 40 cents.

LBT: Market Monday
Apr 23, 2012 (LBT) - The bourse commenced the week recording low volumes and turnover as overall sentiments continued to be dull. The benchmark ASPI shed 2.07 points to close at 5,455 whilst the liquid MPI of more liquid stocks shed 17.78 points to close at 4,905. Total turnover for the day was over 246 mn (Approximately USD 1.9 million) Total volume traded was close to 25 mn shares.

Turnover and volumes were again low as No off the market deals were seen during the day. Banking Sector heavyweight COMB emerged as the top contributor during the day and traded over 230,000 shares. The counter continued to see buying interest between Rs.104 and Rs.105 and closed the day at Rs.105 gaining marginally. Premier blue chip JKH also followed and contributed over 19mn towards the days tally.

Renewed interest was seen on several caps during the day which contributed material amounts towards the days turnover. CFLB saw 2 blocks totaling 250,000 shares change hands on the normal board at Rs.33.50. The counter closed at Rs.33.50 after reaching an intraday high of Rs.34.70. CIC also witnessed 100,000 shares change hands at Rs.100 whilst VFIN and RHL closed the day on a positive note trading impressive volumes. Speculative cap CLND also witnessed over 235,000 shares trade during the day whilst most retailers were focused on SCAP.R and MGT.R which were trading in the market. Both caps collectively traded a volume of 12.7 shares and closed the day shedding a massive 50% and 80% respectively.

Further, retail volumes were topped by PAP,BLUE.X whilst GEST emerged as the top gainer on thin trade.

Interesting fact is still foreigners are colleccting. Today net inflow is around Rs 40 mn. Foreigners continues collection indicates a possoible run in the near future.

Today buki 100 at 945 did the trick.Green ASI.Because it was up 65 ruppees index must have gain 30+ units.We can have a big fall tomorrow if buki goes down.
