The rupee weakened slightly on importer demand but light exporter conversions and dollar sales by a state bank prevent the rupee from falling to Rs. 134 against the greenback on Thursday (12).
"The rupee closed marginally weaker at Rs. 133.80-90 against the dollar from its opening level of 133.75-85 due to sustained importer demand. There was light dollar selling by a state name and exporters. The highest trade for the day was at Rs. 133.85, and the low was at 133.75," the Sri Lanka Forex Association said yesterday.
