The continuous strike launched by the non-executive staff, belonging to the JVP-led CEB Trade Union Alliance, on Friday would turn severe from today (13), its Convenor Ranjan Jayalal said.
"The truth in the boast of the government and engineers’ unions, that they would maintain uninterrupted power supply, could be seen from today onwards," he said.
The CEB TUA members launched a strike on Friday (10) after the administration failed to deliver on its promise to them that salary anomalies would be rectified by July 06.
Power breakdowns were very low on Saturday and Sunday, but from Monday (13) it would be different, he said.
Jayalal said that the striking workers were not perturbed by threats and intimidations of the CEB administration but would continue with their strike action until their demands were met. The CEBTUA has called for a lunch hour picket today opposite the CEB Headquarters in Fort
He said that the CEB union leaders are expected to meet soon to decide to seek the solidarity of other civil organizations, pressure groups and political parties in their struggle.
