RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SMOOTH FUNCTIONING OE STOCK MARKET
Bag round
1 Most of the investors in this country take decisions on non- economic factors Behavior of
‘ECONOMIC MAN’ can,t be seen as in case of developed countries
2. There is a favorable economic environment after the war to show upward trend in the stock market.
Development programs implemented by the govt also contributed for this situation
3,Instead of normal upward tent we have became world best stock market This mainly because use of public funds to manipulate stock market.
4’During this period main sources of funds to stock market have been from PUBLIC FUNDS such as EPF,ETF GOVT Banks and Brokers Credit Real cash came only from govt i Institutions.Brokers credit have been only a Book entry
5. After introduction of credit controls by Mrs. S SEC chairman Market has come down drastically
When Dr K commence investigation situation has been aggravated Mauplaters re-acted against Dr k and
With out any economic reasons market come down further
RECOMMENDATIONS
1.Strict controls should be introduced with regard to Public sector investment in the stock market
2.Purchasing decisions should be taken on company related information such as NAV. Market related information such as BETA VALUE and other curves should not be used by PUBLIC SEDTOE
3. Credit contols for BIG INVESTORS has to be continued
4.Action should be taken against all who violate SEC and other regulation
5. Investigations commenced by Dr K Must be continued

P.S
I have not given any statistics to prove what i have said. therefor pl consider this as my OPINION
Any one can challenge this
I also think Dr Godahewa can solve all this problems
and create smoothly operating stock market in Sri laka

However we can't become world best stock market under present level of
Rule of law,Governance, and economic management even after 10 years

Best performing Stock market before Mrs S was a' BORU SHOW'

D.G.Dayaratne:- Best performing Stock market before Mrs S was a' BORU SHOW'

This is the part which I most hate....Knowing that market had over-valued these buggers promoted the market among ignorance public. So that most of them got trapped due to their ignorance....

Of course one can argue that it was their utter stupidness to jump in to the water without properly knowing amount of depth and how to swim....

But can it justify this unethical promotion done by so called government related body ? If it was done by private organization then it was a bit justifiable as they are main concern is earning more and more profits.

My recommendations

1) Explain to media the role of stock market and how it works
2) SEC should start talking to all stakeholders and get their views before issuing further directives
3) invite goverment funds to be active again
4) promote foregn funds
5) protect the retailers and support them
6) finish the investigations and announce results

Actually to get from downward side to the top, many people have to buy stocks at bottom pushing the prices!
Also prices to collapse, some people have to sell with good returns.

The question is which one are you ? The one in the picture or the guy on the other side which is not mentioned?

Unfortunately with a non regulated market and with greed most of the people in this forum and almost all newcomers end up at this vicious cycle. If you are smart enough and have patients you might be able to end up on the other side of the curve! As far as for my understand all it requires in a decent amount of brains to think by your self and Experience!

So how do you get the experience? That's the ultimate question without blowing your cash!
1.Well Don't invest all or most of your cash in CSE. ( Learned this sort of hard way. Lucky all i had then is not much)
2. If you had backup cash you can buy when markets collapse considering you have some sense.
3. Do you own research and invest. IF want buy about only 10% of your stuff with rumors or from known sources. So you can get an idea.
4. Always remember just because one tip worked does not mean next few you get will get you cashed out on the profit side!

There are few more OFC, but I need to go out now!

@Rajitha: Good advice!

I think somehow I'm already following all of the points you mentioned! (I guess I also learn my lessons the hard way)

At the moment I might be in the "Disinterest" region, I'm still in the belief that this uptrend is artificial. But I haven't totally pulled out of the market either, just reduced my holdings during the uptrend and now just observing the market.

Let's wait and see what will happen in another month or two. In either case (up or down) I think I have made a satisfactory compromise between risk and return.

Cheers!

I feel upward trend will continue if the situation managed properly.
Generally all indicators in the economy are favorable .Rule of law, Good governance ,Economic management, etc are more or less same from 1977.Under this govt i can see some improvement However i may be bias

But if govt try to manipulate the market another bubble will definitely come and blast.

We all will suffer again
I do not say public sector purchasing must stop compleatly

No offence but I have to disagree with you there. "Rule of law, Good governance, Management of economy" none of these things seem to be going well at the moment. Let's take "Rule of law", do I really have to give you counter examples here???

Anyway, I will not debate with you on this (No point). Let's wait and see how it goes.

Cheers!

P. S

My problem is wether policy makers are reading these things

I never seen these people cumming for any important seminar conducted by OPA,SLEA and other professional associations and public interest groups

But when we were young most of the policy makers like HADS, (SEC Planing) Doric ZOOSA, NATH Amarakoon used to participate public discussions even after 1977 i have seen several ministers participating

public seminars and academic discussions
Ministers say the country is peaceful But they go with number of security officers
