Godahewa in his first meeting with the stockbrokers on Friday said that
it is important to work collectively and help build a vibrant market,
brokers present at the meeting said.
“It was a very cordial discussion and the brokers wanted the same concessions that they
had wanted at the July meeting they had with the President. Dr.
Godahewa had wanted them to write to the SEC and that those requests
will be sent to SEC’s relevant committees,”one of the brokers said.
The meeting had started at 3.30 pm and concluded at 6 pm. Another broker
said that the meeting saw an exchange of ideas, while the positive
change in market sentiment was discussed. “Dr. Godahewa also said that
he is keen to wrap up the ongoing probes,” the broker said.
Representatives from all 28 stock broking houses attended the meeting. -
