Expenditure for 2013 has been estimated at Rs. 2520 billion, the government announced yesterday, but it did not reveal the revenue figure.

Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwalle addressing the weekly cabinet press briefing in Colombo said that the revenue figure would be released in due course.

Economic growth will be maintained at seven percent while inflation would be contained at the same rate, he noted.

The Minister said that the first reading of the Appropriation Bill in parliament has been scheduled for October 9, while the Budget proposals would be presented on November 8.

Emphasis has been given for the priorities identified under the 2013-2015 Medium Term Expenditure and for completion of development activities which have already commenced, he observed.

Rambukwalle said that President Mahinda Rajapaksa in his capacity as Finance Minister and the General Treasury had consulted all line ministries and stakeholders in formulating what he described as a realistic budget.
