Aman Resorts, the luxury resorts chain is to expand its activities in Sri Lanka. Accordingly they will build a Hotel in Colombo and will establish resorts in several parts of the country including one in Anuradhapura.
The Chairman of the Aman Resorts chain Adrian Zecha, who is on a fact finding visit to the country has told the Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa that Sri Lanka has became one of the most sought after tourist destinations in the world due to peace and political stability prevailing in the country, and foreign investors are enthusiastic about investing in the hotel industry in Sri Lanka. He has said that if the authorities can respond to the requests and requirements of the investor community more quickly, investment will flow to the country un presciently, and the Post Conflict economic Development process is visible throughout Sri Lanka.
Since 1988, when flagship Amanpuri (‘place of peace’) opened in Phuket, Thailand, Aman Resorts has established resorts in Bhutan, Cambodia, China, France, French Polynesia, Indonesia, India, Laos, Montenegro, Morocco, Philippines, Turkey, Caicos Islands and the United States. (niz).
