Can't Install DirectFn on windows 8

When I start installation It shows you required to install net.framework 2.
Then it start download net.framework 2. when finished downloading it says installation has failed and application will exit.
What can i do
Pls help me Sad

did you do the usual? Install .net and reboot and try installing Directfn.

Also did you try to install with admin priviledges for Direct Fn .

Is your windows 32 bit or 64 bit?

Hmm, am not sure whether the direct fn version which is 32 bit has issues with running 64 version of windown /.net. Running 32 bit software on 64 bit OS should not have issues but a 64 bit .net hmm..

As I am not running windows 8 , I cannot test. You can wait for another in the forum to comment or call your broker It dept and ask. If you find an answer in the mean time let us know.

I've first hand experience using 64bit processors and trouble-shooting apps on those. And what I've notice was, if u have a 64bit processor, 32 bit apps might give trouble or turn up not working.

Anyways, DFN is not supported in Windows 8. Fxx had tested this and told me its not working so I postponed the upgrading of my OS for now.

Also if you have more than 4GB of memory, what you could do is; install Vmware or Virtual PC then build a XP/Win 7 image inside it and
keep it to run DFN. I've not tested this but shouldn't be a problem imo..

Running VMWare seems a good suggestion to get around. Seems it might be wise to wait a bit more time before going for Win 8.

Yes It's better suggestion.
Yesterday I asked from my broker he said me wait for update version
so I install virtual box(XP) and now i can run directFn on it.

This happens may be due to only .NET Framework 4.5 is included with Windows 8. Microsoft recommend .NET Framework 3.5 for .NET Framework 3.5/3.0 and 2.0 applications. I did not try for Directfn but i installed other applications which are in .Net Framework 2.0 .

Did anyone succeed in installing DFN in windows 8?
It keeps asking for .net framework 2. I have .net frame work 3.5 which includes 2 as well in that.

To install Direct FN in Win 8, First Allow to download Net Framework and If a Error message comes, just leave it as same and run the Direct FN setup again.

If you are with DFN can you please fix saving the order book ( market depth by price ) issues. Presently everytime we log in we need to retype all those shares we are looking at again . It is a massivbe inconveneince if you are watching 20-30 shares .

I also made a offical complain before adn they said ti will be fixed in the next version.

Also are you planning on a andriod version.

Yes TWS 5 is a massively improved product than the current version. It will be faster and enriched with more features. Your issues will be fixed and whole lot more. so just wait a bit. Smile

Are you saying with responsibility this order book save issue is fixed or will I need to complain directly to DFN again to remind.

After today if you do not appear at the forum then all this will be useless No offence to you.
