Me too confused with the LGL price behavior...This LGL was trading somewhere around 52~54 levels some time back & I don't see any clue why LGL is dropping so fast...!

The Dividend was only Rs.1.50 and by now the LGL has dropped more that twice the Dividend...!

Wonder why the PPL are selling @ bid price...?

This is better than we thought initially. I was expecting that they will sell entire quantity to Litro. This shows the capacity of Wegapitiya. How he handle adverse situations in a mature way without messing things up like LIOC did in the history. Even Litro prices were adjusted to the same price as LGL. It's good to have fair competition and fair profits in the thriving industry

here comes the explanation, the problem is with their supply chain

Sri Lanka Laugfs to get half of state LPG output
Apr 05, 2011 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's Laugfs Gas will get 50 percent of the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) produced by state-run Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, up from an earlier 30 percent on a presidential directive, the company said.

Laugfs Gas got all of the LPG produced by a refinery at state-run Ceylon Petroleum Corporation until the state acquired the gas business of Shell petroleum. The firm now trades under the name Litro Gas.
Following the acquisition CPC had given 70 percent of its output to Litro and 30 percent to Laugfs.

But Sri Lanka's president Mahinda Rajapaksa had overturned the decision, Laugfs Gas said.

"His Excellency the President whilst instructing the high officials to ignore the market share basis assured Laugfs 50 percent of the LP Gas production according to His Excellency’s mission to safeguard and protect the local industries," the firm said in a statement.

The directive followed an April 04 meeting with the President attended by Treasury Secretary P B Jayasundera, Litro Gas chairman Gamini Senarath, Petroleum Secretary Titus Jayewardene, CPC chairman Harry Jayawardene and Laugfs chairman W K H Wegapitiya, the firm said.

wait! Hasn't this made things better. I remember when the original news came out it was a 70:30 split in favor of litro now it's 50:50. There has also been a price hike for litro, so LGL should make some gains in market share as well.

What we have here is one of those rare instances when the news hasn't leaked before the announcement was made!

Well it's definetely better news than expected and yes I think peple would have sold at lower prices expecting the worst ...but this is the clout wegapitiya has ....tHis share has come down with the over all market drop ....best thing is to enter at these levels or hold...it will eventually move to better heights....Tubal on the spot I agree one of the few instances where people didnt know the out come ...But how could any one know it was H.E the presidents call .... Wegapitiya was confident though from the inception Smile
