Many people claim that it is the upcoming holiday season that's causing a dull market. Hopefully one of those claimants could explain how the ASI climbed continously from April 1 , 2010 to April 12, 2010 and gained 234 points (more than 6% ) during that period.

That rise was after a small dip in March 2010

thanks!

I think what is being implied by a dull market is not so much the gains or losses but the volumes traded and retail participation in the market. Even with less players in the market, the market can move - in fact with less players in the market it is actually easier to drive the market up Razz

From a monthly volumes perspective, in a month of 21 market days, 3 days are lost to holidays and possibly 1-3 more days will see reduced activity as people take an extended break. Not to mention people maybe inclined to take some money out FOR the holidays given that the market doesn't seem to be in any sort of full fledged run - bull or bear.

Which is in contrast to last April 2010, which was an extraordinary year for the markets. It was almost a year long bull run and realistically i don't see anybody taking a holiday or pulling money out when everybody was making a lot of money everyday (except me Sad )

I guess we'll only find out the true picture at the end of the month, these just my thoughts.
