World markets are more liquid so investors can exit and enter very easily.

The other problem is high interest rates. Even though TB rates have dropped, interest rates given by banks continue to remain at the higher end. Also the tax free debentures are attracting a lot of money that would otherwise be in the stock market.

think it this way: If you have enough money would you have enough confidance NOW to invest heavily in CSE? if the answer is NO for whatever reason, that is how many other investors also think!.......for whatever reason.

You will find that SL that investors invest in SL to balance out their portfolios - SL does not move in the same direction as the Asian block.

Also note how many boutique equity funds invest in SL

I dont think the majority of trading in the CSE is done by foreing investors, if someone can compile statistics you will see its driven by local players. Therefore they will react to local marco economic events rather than global. Money moves around much faster in foreing developed markets and they react to trends and are more intertwined than the sri lankan economy is with others.

CSE reacts to its own local/domestic circumstances.
