SriLankan Cargo has commenced cargo operations from the newly opened Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport by delivering a package to Chennai, recently.
SriLankan says, it took over the first shipment to Chennai from its long-standing, top agent Expo-Lanka Freight.
The shipment which has taken place during last week has contained garment accessories, weighing 900kg.
SriLankan Cargo, which comes under the SriLankan Airlines says, a discount of 10-pct on the current freight rates is applicable for shipments operating in and out of the MRIA.
“In a bid to assist the exports sector, a special introductory rate of USD 0.30 cents per kilo is also applicable for shipments between Colombo and Mattala”, added the Airline.
