The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC)plans to build an aviation fuel storage terminal at the newly commissioned Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport in Hambantota.
The storage terminal would have a storage capacity of three million liters and it would be built in the airport premises. This would be in addition to the current aviation fuel storage terminals which have the capacity to store 230,000 liters. Chairman Airport Aviation Services, Prassanna Wickramasuriya said that the construction of this storage facility would commence in October this year.
He emphasizes that there was no fuel shortage at the MRIA and said that the CPC is building this new storage facility to meet the 'future' demand.
