Dissabandara’s decision late last month marked the resignation of three senior officials of the SEC within a period of 14 months.
First to go was Indrani Sugathadasa during December 2011.
“Having considered the unfolding circumstances I decided to tender my resignation”, she told News360.lk following her resignation.
Thilak Karunaratne, who succeeded Sugathadasa, did not last long and decided to resign in August 2012.
He told the media at that time, there was pressure for him to resign.
Karunaratne was succeeded by the present Chairman Dr. Nalaka Godahewa.
Malik Cader, who functioned as the Director General of the SEC was removed from the SEC, by elevating him to a higher position at the Ministry of Finance.
This happened during the latter part of 2011.
