In the announcement it says they are changing bcoz current business has been a loss making one, but their financial statements isn't showing any loss ne....what is going on? are they trying to cheat investors? or am i missing some thing here?

If they want to change business, What they will do is open up another company/subsidiary and start the new business.

Ideally PHAR should be move from "Chemical & Pharmaceutical" sector to "Land & Property" sector.

Pharma firm into apartments and mixed development

The Colombo Pharmacy Company, which recently exited from the pharmaceutical business, is planning on apartments and mixed development at its lands in Colombo, officials said.

An official told the Business Times that in the 200 perch property at Union Place plans are afoot to build a commercial and entertainment facility while on a 30-perch land at Bambalapitiya, the company is planning a commercial apartment complex.

“We get rental income from our buildings at Union Place and Bambalapitiya and after the special resolution is passed, we will change the name to Colombo Holding Company PLC as it will act as a holding company for our real estate,” the official said. He added that they also want to acquire more land through this holding company in Colombo and the suburbs for real estate development.

BTW, this was expected.
I think many companies established their presence in Colombo decades ago will think similar way , if the have least performing places or industrial lands in the Capital.

Today I heard the foundation work of the Lotus Tower ( Nelum Kuluna) is nearing completion.
I feel when we reach 2015 we may see different valuation for Colombo Properties.
Last week there was some heat in CSD, ETWO , EQIT , EAST. They may give moderate return in 2 years time.

We have similar experience with ASCOT and GLASS(they only moved away from original place)
