If we check the historical records foreign activities always less than the local activities.

"Foreign activities has gone up, due to increasing of local activities. Can't we say like that? If so, the real driving force is locals not the foreigners. But the psychologically the driving force may be foreigners."

Please come up and prove or reject above statement with facts and figures.

You are million time correct mate.
Foreigners were buying craps from local at rock bottom price.
They are dumping the craps to local when local go crazy. (we call bullish sentiment)
With that money they are collecting blueships.
Both way local are active by buying craps and selling bluechips to them.
Note so called bluechips in one point become over value then they will off load to the locals.
Cyclical issue mate. End of the day they are the winners.

Not correct. Foreign funds look at the sovereign first. Lower risk free rate is a good sign. Plus most investments in the CSE are off the borrowings on govt securities i.e. effectively leveraged. Hence some of you look puzzled at foreign purchases of Tbills Rolling Eyes

Second they look at planned inflow/outflows. I think the key factor was the 1b NSB bond. When you get word of something like that it really should get you bullish. Rolling Eyes
1 b USD is a lot of money in lanka. Esp in a currency market where daily turnover is 30m USD.

Third point is that most of the foreign funds are boutique houses. Not really big players like Vanguard, FMR, America Funds etc. Hence they are relatively independent of each other.

Fourth point is people are forgetting that some foreign funds are bank custodian purchases. Nothing wrong with this. Actually it's the best way to invest as most of the outsiders don't have to open SIA and have to waste time receiving broker bullsh!t.

This seems like irrelevant for my argument or I can't understand what you mean.

My simple question is who is the driving force? Locals Or Foreigners?

Short answer: Locals. What I tried to tell you is that it is not easy for foreigners to invest. You have no idea about the number of forms, authorisation protocols, approval cycles that foreigners go through.

There is no bull without massive local participation. Locals drive the bourse up/down. Foreigners only invest based on macroeconomic indicators

Then why we so worry and sometime get panic looking at foreign out flows? If our firms are doing well, Investment policies and Gov back up is positive and stability and macro economics conditions are supportive why do we so much concern over "Sudda fellow". Can't we get rid of this mentality by looking st the facts?
