btw is Melstacorp a sub of DIST. If yes why are they buying shares in DIST

Yes, Melstacorp is a 100 % owned Subsidiary of DIST. DIST is slowly transferring all equity assets to Melstacorp for shares in Melstacorp. As i have mentioned before, I think the end game is for for an Melstacorp and DIST share swap, i.e. DIST will give its shareholders Melstacorp shares and eventually become a subsidiary of Melstacorp which will be the main listed entity. DIST may even delist ! This was even confirmed by forum member Melstacorp who was semi active in forum in 2012. He said they were looking into the legal aspects of structuring this. That's why Amita Gooneratne ex Commercial Bank CEO was appointed CEO of Melstacorp. As you have pointed out to, maybe risky to keep all assets under DIST after seeing what happened to SLIC & Pelwatte.
