Could be the 13 amendment.
WHY
1.It create rift among ruling parties leading to political instability.
2.It could damage good relationship with India
3.It threatens the lasting peace of Sri Lanka.
I think these reasons create panic among long term investors and foreign funds.

Certain extend your have points, other than that we need to see the global economical changes some of them will affect indirectly rather than directly.

Employee share option is also one fact???
isn't it....
as JKH, HNB, COMB.. gave so recently...
and normally july is a dull month???
once the next quaters result leaks to top people they start to collect then market goes u.....
after some time we too started to buy then go up...
its like a habbit....

once in 3-4 months ...a up n a down curve is printed by CSE by many of counters while few are exceptional....

as i experiences n seen during last year or so .....!!! Wink

so deicide exit n enter....

Another reason is Moody's down-grading of Sri Lanka.

Yes 13 A is a concern.. I believe we cant ignore India any means (and India cannot ignore Tamilnadu too). I think now it is over. Gov is going for NPC election without any change..

I heard that some broker firms not extending margin to some shares and warrants

Credit downgrade is another cause

@ dudi, who cares what the CB has to say. You think moody would. I think it's highly unprofessional to counter attack like that. I want be suprised if those are only for the local papers.

we new there would be lot of people waiting to exit when the ASI hits certain barriers. Now we need to wait patiently until solid support is reached.

there is a lot going on in the world markets, specially in the US. All these does have an impact

It shows the real stupidity of of our CB.if the out look is down graded they should give assurance that they will make things to get it reshaped without counter attacking and commenting on it.These CB fool act as the dame way our donkeys act in the parliament. Just jabbering..!

World trend and moody's down grade certainly did impact market. But these things will not hurt long term investors as much as it hurts short term players.
At this critical juncture If our political leadership can choose the right path Sri lanka will be the next rising star of Asia and CSE will make new records.

Foreign investors concerned I guess they take into account of moody's rating considerably over the domestic & global issues. Of course the all factors being discussed in this forum strike directly or indirectly causing an impact to the market but on different weight at varying level. More education & incentives are to be introduced to improve the participation of local investors together with increased number of listed companies qualified.

Market indexes are going up when foreign funds buy and it is going down when they sell. but problem is when they buy only limited number of shares go up with indexes but when they sell most shares go down.

Econ today and Friday i think foreigners were net buyers though in amount wise its small

ECON I am fully agree with u. foreign funds buying like JKH/LLUB market indexes gone up.. then our local investors are coming to market again to buy the other shares. we can see many posts here about market indexes predictions.. I am also thinking world economy/moody downgrade has effect on the foreigners buying.
