Akbar took over Sri lankan biggest Tea exporter position in 1992 and still the same rather now the world biggest tea exporter with more than 52m tea Kgs in 2012 where as Stassen only had around 18 and Dilmah was no where. ( 7 m )

If you go to some of the middle east countries you will Tea brands such as Mahamood, Chian , Fan , Algazaleen Dogazaleen etc etc all are from Akbar kalania stores and some times seller or the agent dont know it.

They have the Asian biggest quick tea and bulk tea factory.
Mr. Akbas one of the greatest Tea taste is srilanka with a great business knoledge.

Akbar Bro. accounts for more than 25b turn over for the year 2012. Akbar may be the only company who refuse big tea orders weekly from buyers just to keep the Tea Auction prices low and allow all others to do their businesses with out harming the equilibrium of the market.

Akbar is the excellency of Sri lankan business apart from JKH. I would say one of the richest may be the richest family in Sri lanka. I am really proud i have worked with all the directors of the family just resigned to get more exposure.
