Aug 16, 2013 (LBT) - Indices recovered to close with a gain: Indices depicted a volatile path as the benchmark index recovered from a dip of 16 points to close with a gain of 13 points at 6,233.21. Nestle Lanka dominated the positive weightings list gaining 5.4% at its close of LKR2,441.3. The S&P SL20 index dipped marginally primarily led by Ceylon Tobacco Company (-1.3%) and John Keells Holdings (-0.4%).
JKH topped the turnover; crossings added 49%: John Keells Holdings spearheaded the turnover backed by two off-board blocks totaling 500k shares at LKR255.0. On-board activity in the counter denoted some selling pressure leading to a 0.4% dip at its close of LKR256.8. Nestle Lanka and Textured Jersey Lanka recorded one crossing each at 52-week high prices of LKR2,500 and LKR13.5 respectively. Vallibel One recorded an off-board block of c.2 mn shares at LKR17.3.
