The stock market has MANY POSITIVES! Interest rates are low, The SEC is investor friendly, some companies are doing extremely well (LIOC, AEL, TJL, TKYO, CDB etc), projected GDP growth is excellent (projected by ADB, HSBC etc), market P/E is one of the lowest in the region and some companies are under-valued trading below their BV, huge foreign inflow. The market will pick up soon

I feel most banks bottom line has affected with provisions on losses due to gold price which will be improved with banking policies and gold prices. So, banks too to be improved am I correct?

I dont have CDB, LIOC, TKYO, EXPO

I dont have TJL but I will buy some because it has great long term potential as they earn in dollars and cotton prices have come down

I just mentioned these companies to make a point - all of them had great profits in the last quarter! How can I make a point without mentioning shares in a forum designed for stock market investors :s Name one share that I have mentioned which is a bad share? All good solid companies. I dont promote companies like PC House - none of the shares I mentioned have gone down and this time in 3 months, they would have performed as well as the ASPI or better!

But I respect your opinion and I apologize if it comes across as promotion

I dont oppose the fact that the counters are good or bad and whether those have done well or not too.. But when someone says a company does well, then they should have a little courtesy to add some more info than mentioning the counters.. Anybody can mention symbols here and be heroes if those go up. Markets rise without a reason when some strange ppl become active.. Some ppl sell stocks in whole-sale and trading opportunities arise too Surprised
But as members of a responsible forum, we should teach each other how to get into good stocks and avoid bad ones. Its always the best thing at least to point out a positive/negative fact behind an investment decision imo..

i.e. There are trading opportunities with PCH, but I would not invest in it just becuz Dr. Sentil has stepped in.. Why u may ask? Cuz I've not seen any rational behind his recent investment decisions. Veterans may do foolish things too but buying ATL, TFC at high do not make any sense being an experienced investor. Who knows, as some members pointed out, he may strip the assets or become a director if somebody anchors PCH but what someone should to do with obsolete computer parts?? What happened to the rights money? How much debts the company in and how much it may need to revive it?

U give somebody a fish, they'll never learn to catch it but if u let them know how to catch, ur giving him a living rite?

Above mentioned shares are good, in fact some can be THE investment. However, pointing out few facts would'n harm rite?

I admit that there are ppl who cheaply promote their stocks just to gain something and glad to see that ur not doing it. In fact, appreciate the good faith u display..
I'll believe u if u say u dont have these counters but continuous mentioning of some selected counters will make it look like ur promoting it in diff ways regardless of u have it or not.

I remember u've been talking about TJL since it was at 11-12 so I wonder why u still wait to buy it. To me, it doesn't make any sense if u wait longer since those have not gone down in 3 months rite?

So pointing out few facts on these good counters wont make any harm and it will truly balance ur post as well..

Yes I understand your point - just trying to help people who may otherwise buy the wrong stocks Smile But I agree with what you say - if I mention them too much it'll come across as a promotion. Thank you for your comments.

Markets crash when you least expect them to. As Warren Buffett warned, "You pay a very high price in the stock market for a cheery consensus."

It will rain sometimes. Buy an umbrella before it starts raining...
This market also will crash sometimes. Keep some cash available to grab the opportunities that a crash presents you with.

So  why market at present level?

Reason may be no rational behavior among market participants In other words

You can't see 'Economic Man behavior" in this country NOW. Main hypothesis in economics and all
other related  subjects is' Economic behavior.' of market participants

We have seen economic man behavior in stock market in before 2005 in this country

Who upset the whole System ? Who was the main man behind govt manipulation of stock market in sri lanka ?

When  the Govt understand this situvation most of the present problems in the economy can be solved.

Other vice govt will have to face serious problem very soon
