Hi ,

Is ALUFAB a crap share or has it gone in to restructuring and is on the road to recovery. ? please advice anyone who is familiar with topic .

The appeared to showing sign of recovery. But company not releasing the reports ( why? ) is keeping the share a mystery.

I bought this when it was higher think it was stable. A mistake. But if this runs at somepoint ... it can run very fast ;-)

There is a known person in the forum who should talk about this. He was very optimistic when this was trading around Rs 19-20. ( okay I will not try to blame him )

Thanks slstock maybe they will release shortly I checked on line last results were in june last year I think. lets see.

Dileepa, we don;t have to 100% fill our portfolio with share like CTC,NEST , LLUB.
We can also have a bit of room to play with some shares that are called speculatives. Else no fun.
Maybe 80 :20 ratio or 90:10 to fundamental/speculatives.

TWOD , CIFL , PCH were also speculatives but we knew they were clearly going down hill for past few years.

ALUF was different. With ALUF, you need to dig deeper into history , right issue, and last report, annual report to find the reason for my going with it. I also gave another reason in my previous post.

This is not total crap atleast by last report. But cannot confirm yet as no new reports are out. (This is not a buy recommendation)

There are more speculative reasons ;-) Okay i am going to keep silent for now let other dig deeper.

ps : I am expecting comments by 1 other person as I mentioned.

I do understand the play and no fun part.
Usually dividend investing(what I do) is boring.
It is true that my PF is very bias towards some counters Very Happy

The thing is, I do not believe investing is a zero sum game.

For me to have a gain, company must make more than that.
I need at least 20% a year gain to beat inflation and justify the risk I'm taking at CSE.
Therefore any company with ROE less than 20% is out of my radar.
I'm not telling every body should be like that.
Investment appetite do change with age and financial stability of investors.
I'm hoping to have a early retirement Sleep

so above is my minimum.

if they release updated accounts I think some or most of our questions will be answered. I wanted to buy at 13.50 but no sooner I posted on this forum and checked it had gone to 14 ....crazy . for those who have this share only saving grace might be if accounts are relaesed and the account look positive or else new managment or ownership change. I will have a look tomorrow and might do some day trading depending on patern.

I think you are referring to the time ( in 2011) when this was running to Rs 150+ with - nav.
Then there was a right issue at Rs xx

Before someone speaks further , they need to look at the available reports.
Now the question is have they recovered or not?

ps : btw, if anyone bought this during 2011 they are just nuts. Even at Rs 30 . I just bought some very recently at a little higher than current price.

Only problem is you said the same at Rs 19-20.

Make sure you distinguish your focus group when you make a statement like such. As there are so many short term people here , they will be mad at you if they followed you at Rs 19 ;-)

Alchemist and rainmaker it makes perfect sense if DP is eyeing this actually since he owns lalu as well . he is known to take over sick companies. also we are totally unaware of the share holding of the company during the past year or so. there was rumour sometime back as well that he might be eyeing this. but on the other hand i think his focus is elsewhere for now i.e Th Kingsbury and latest casino projects and how to stay compettive with crown etc. if he is looking at buying out aluf it will be interesting days/months ahead . valid point by alchemist about aluf been handed over contracts for projects at continental (now the kingsbury) something fishy ?

PARQ is already belong to DP through RCL (neda?)

Aluf very very interesting to me due to one reason. We cant say any thing with out their latest results. May be the owner collecting the shares those he sold at 25 to 26 (Right) range 1.5 years ago.

Always small companies give a higher profit if they turn around. I am with REXP and looking to buy more and more then VFIN and ABAN. No 4 will be Aluf but not now. May be too late but wait wait and wait.

your right come to think of it this might have nothing to do with DP ...he might not be interested in something this small at this stage . it might be like you said the owner or some other party trying to collect or even manipulate who knows, it's happened in the past. lets see tomorrow.
