I first invested in CSE during 2011 when the bourse was having a major bull run. Ever since, my stocks have been plummeting (and I don't think this is affecting only me) and now I have lost over 1/3 of my portfolio, with respect to bought value.

Please, can anyone suggest whether it's good to return to market these days (through buying strong-but-undervalued stocks, averaging etc.)

Those who used to habit like smoking would never stop the same. Like wise you too cant stay out.

Find good counters and grab at lowest possible rates and earn something. The situation will gradually be improved according to me.

Actually the market peaked in 2011 and the ASPI remained in the 7,000s in the 1st six months. The decline started after that. So if you had invested during this period and held on you would have lost considerably. If you're keen on investing again, select a period in which the ASPI would be around 5,600. Select the value counters, don't go behind the speculative. You should be able to recover at least part on a longer run.

There must be three Es required to be successful in stock maret
1. Education
2.Experience
3.Excess cash ( Robert Kiyosaki says so)

Now read a lot of books on Share Market. One book which i like is with a heading like There's only one winning method in stock Market.. by an Indian writer (may be samudraguptha). He has detailed about DOLLAR COST AVERAGING. thats a nice stratey.

Remember what happened to you has happened to some one else earlier. Read their stories and study their strategies.

i collected JKH in 2006 at 129. sold the same quanity at 170
then again I bought at 220. since then market started to decline and i collected JKH in every step of the downward journey. Finally I purchased at 50.00. By that time my average was down to Rs 87.00
Had I remained inactive like you my average would have been 220

if you have invested in a good company then average it. But if you have invested in speculative shares "stop loss"
