Bourse closed with mixed results while main share index gained marginally despite lackluster trading. ASPI gained 3.20 points (+0.06%) to end at 5,816.04 and S&P SL 20 Index lost 12.38 points (-0.39%) to closed at 3,178.28.

Market turnover was LKR 710mn. John Keells Holdings was the highest contributor to the turnover with LKR 243mn followed by CT Holdings (LKR 109mn) and John Keells Holdings warrant – 2015 (LKR 63mn).

Several negotiated deals were recorded in John Keells Holdings (770,191 shares at LKR 205.50 per share), CT Holdings (653,086 shares at LKR 150.00 per share) and Asiri Hospitals (~1.7mn shares at LKR 15.80 per share).

Meanwhile John Keells Holdings warrants continued to attract heavy investor interest throughout the day and closed with losses. JKH warrant 2015 closed at LKR 59.30, down by 8.9% and JKH warrant 2016 closed at LKR 63.00, down by 9.7%. Moreover Malwatta Valley Plantations – nonvoting and Lanka IOC traded heavily during the day. Lanka IOC share price moved up by 9.1% to close at LKR 28.90 subsequent to the release of September quarter earnings which showed an increase of 26%YoY. Tess Agro – non voting Rights emerged as the top gainer with 33% increase to LKR 0.40.

Cash map closed 44%. Foreign participation accounted for 34% of total market activity whilst net foreign selling was LKR 65mn. Net foreign outflows were mainly seen in John Keells holding Holdings (LKR 158mn), John Keells warrant0023 (LKR 34mn) and John Keells warrent0022 (LKR 32mn).

Nov 13, 2013 (LBT) - Indices closed on opposite: The indices closed on opposites without clear directions on a marginal ground ASPI ended at 5,816.04 with a marginal gain of 3 points. Gains recorded in Commercial Leasing and Finance (+7.9%) and the dips denoted in Ceylon Tobacco Company (-1.2%) held the index in marginal ground. Turnover levels were strong supported both on-board transactions and crossings. S&P SL20 ended with a dip of 12 points at 3,178.28.

JKH spearheaded daily turnover: John keels Holdings spearheaded the daily turnover supported by two off-board transactions which amounted to 770k shares which changed hands at LKR205.5. The counter also denoted significant on-board interest with several transactions, the largest being the 59k trade at LKR207.1. JKH closed at LKR208.6 with a dip of 0.6%. C T Holdings and Asiri Hospital Holdings too attracted off-board interest where the former recorded a single off-board block of 653k shares at LKR150.0 and the latter crossed 1.7mn shares at LKR15.8.

On-board interest on NEST and LIOC: Nestle Lanka witnessed considerable on-board interest backed by a single on-board block of 16k shares at LKR1950.0. The counter settled at LKR1950.0 with an intra-day gain of 0.6%. The value counter Lanka IOC too denoted notable on-board activity with the reporting of sound financial results today. The counter displayed a notable intraday rally and ended at LKR28.8 with a gain of 8.7%.

Moderate retail activity: Retail investor interest was low and concentrated on Lanka Century Investments, Three Acre Farms and Touchwood investments.
