The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed 18.08 points lower at 5,810.97, down 0.31 percent. The S&P SL20 closed 11.28 points lower at 3,174.68, down 0.35 percent. Turnover was 234.29 million rupees, down from 525.70 million rupees a day earlier, with stocks of 112 firms closing in the red against 52 gainers.
Sampath Bank accounted for 29 percent of the total turnover today.
Foreigners brought 67 million rupees worth shares while selling 37 million rupees of shares.
Nestle Lanka closed 41.60 rupees lower at 1,931.70 rupees and Aitken Spence closed 3.40 rupees lower at 110.10 rupees, contributing most to the index fall.
DFCC closed 4.30 rupees lower at 119.60 rupees and Asian Hotels and Properties closed 2.00 rupees lower at 68.00 rupees.
JKH closed 2.00 rupees higher at 210.40 rupees. JKH’s W0022 warrants closed 10 cents lower at 58.20 rupees and JKH’s W0023 warrants closed 1.50 rupees lower at 61.50 rupees.
Ceylinco Insurance closed 69.60 rupees higher at 1,333.20 rupees and Ceylon Tobacco Company closed 5.00 rupees higher at 1,055.00 rupees.
Dialog closed 10 cents higher at 9.10 rupees and Sri Lanka Telecom closed 10 cents lower at 37.50 rupees.
Carson Cumberbatch closed 3.10 rupees lower at 375.00 rupees and Bukit Darah closed flat at 675.00 rupees.
Commercial Bank closed flat at 113.00 rupees and Cargills Ceylon closed flat at 150.00 rupees.
Distilleries closed flat at 184.00 rupees. HNB closed 60 cents lower at 144.30 rupees and Sampath Bank closed 1.90 rupees lower at 165.00 rupees.
Lanka Orix Leasing Company closed 10 cents higher at 63.10 rupees and Touchwood closed 10 cents lower at 3.30 rupees.
