Share market closed on Tuesday with mixed returns where All share price index marginally declined by 0.49 points (-0.01%) to close at 5,845.93 and S&P SL 20 marginally increased by 0.89 points (+0.03%) to close at 3,225.13.

Price depreciations in counters such as Indo Malay (closed at LKR 1,250.00, -7.41%), Trans Asia (closed at LKR 80.00, -3.61%) and Seylan Bank (closed at LKR 64.10, -3.62%) contributed negatively to the benchmark index performance whilst price appreciations in Lanka Orix Leasing (closed at LKR 75.00, +3.02%) and Hatton National Bank (LKR 142.00, +0.64%) contributed positively to S&P SL 20 index performance.

Market turnover was LKR 246mn. Commercial Bank (LKR 62mn) topped the turnover list underpinned by the crossing recorded (0.5mn shares at LKR 122.00) followed by Abans Financial Services (LKR 48mn) and Blue Diamond (LKR 47mn).

Moreover, Blue Diamond voting and non-voting, Touchwood investments and E-Channeling managed to attract more retail investors during the session.

Foreign participation was 24%. Foreign investors were net buyers with a net foreign inflow of LKR 100mn. Net foreign inflows were mainly seen in counters such as Commercial Bank (LKR 61mn), Blue Diamond (LKR 34mn) and Senkadagala Finance (LKR 23mn).

Cash map closed at 37%.

The Colombo bourse yesterday closed flat for the Christmas holidays on a turnover of Rs.246.4 million, down from the previous day’s Rs.267.8 million, with the All Share Price Index losing a marginal 0.49 points (0.01%) and S&P SL20 gaining a marginal 0.89 points (0.03%) with 79 gainers and 80 losers almost on even keel while 161 counters closed flat.

Five hundred thousand Commercial Bank (voting) shares were crossed at Rs.123 contributing Rs.61 million to turnover with Abans Finance leading the floor trades closing Rs.2.40 down at Rs.27.40 on over 1.8 million shares done between Rs.25.10 and Rs.30 contributing Rs.48.1 million to turnover.

Blue Diamonds saw a flurry of activity gaining 10 cents to close at Rs.3.60 with nearly 13.2 million shares done between Rs.3.50 and Rs.3.70 contributing the second highest turnover of Rs.47.4 million.

Other stocks showing volume included Access Engineering closing 10 cents down at Rs.22 on 0.5 million shares, Touchwood (voting) closed flat at Rs.2.90 on nearly 2.3 million shares Blue Diamonds (non-voting) closing 10 cents up at Rs.1.20 on 3.1 million shares and John Keells Hotels closing 10 cents up at Rs.12.60 on nearly 0.3 million shares.

Among the pricey counters, Ceylon Tobacco closed Rs.2 down at Rs.1,126 on 3,935 shares, Dimo closed Rs.5 up at Rs.4.90 on 7,366 shares and Chevron closed flat at Rs.267.50 on 9,306 shares.

The Colombo Stock Exchange announced that Citizens Development Business Finance debentures will be listed on Dec. 27 while NDB and NTB debentures will be listed on Dec. 26.

CT Holdings announced an interim dividend of 80 cents per share for 2013/14, XD from Jan. 3 and with payment on Jan. 16.
