The reason is too much government involvement in the
market. On the one hand there is the regulator trying to stifle the
momentum by creating a credit crunch
and the government in its part trying to be a player in the
corporate board room. This has scared away lot of investors including the
foreigners.

The total turnover was LKR1,629.6 mn (USD14,846.9 k) vs. 12-months average daily turnover of LKR 2,867.6 mn (USD26,125.6 k) whilst the volume traded for the day was 46,656.3k against the 12-months average daily volume of 92,350k.

well. i think compared to the turnover of the past few days (excluding the cars group tradings), it still might be low but not 'thin' Smile

yea it is subjective. but i do agree that it was low or thin to that matter
