Sri Lanka's consumer prices rose 4.9 percent in the 12-months to April 2014, accelerating from 4.2 percent in March, data from the state statistics office showed.
Prices rose 0.3 percent during April, with the increase coming from food.
The widely watched Colombo Consumer Price Index rose 0.5 points to 178.4 points by end April 2014 from a month earlier.
The statistic office said half the index gain came from rising rice prices.
