Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex is up 4.62% (1,172 points) today as a result of the business friendly leader Narendra Modi been elected as the Prime Minister of India. The sensex passed 25,000 points.

It's been predicted that Corporate earnings growth for the next fiscal year would be by 25% when Modi comes to power.

We too in Sri Lanka badly need a business friendly government to boost corporate earnings. Our corporate earnings are declining every year and businesses are suffering due to high taxes and unfriendly business environment. Our politicians are killing already struggling businesses.

Now many foreign investors will move to India due to Business friendly government in power. This is going to be a big blow for Sri Lanka.

At this juncture, tactical diplomatic approach with new Indian ruling party is must to establish better relationships by revisiting the foreign policies. Few statements made in pre-election campaign by new leader of the regional matters are to be carefully studied before the approach. Direct influence from southern state to central government is minimal now as new ruling party can freely stand on their feet. Any positive outcome from state level will be a plus point to SL ruling party that directly or indirectly affect to our capital market.

India's relationship with Sri Lanka was influenced by Tamil Nadu because the Congress Party was dependent on its coalition partners in TN. With the absolute majority that the BJP has won, Indian foreign policy will henceforth be determined by India's best interests.

Mr Modi has promised to revive growth, which implies that more foreign money will get invested in India. That could have a positive spillover effect on Sri Lanka... Interesting times ahead, for sure.

We had a strained relationship with the past government and TN took the political advantage of it. Fishermen's problem and others were as a result of  our bad relationship with the center .

With election is over , political play of Jayalalitha may end. On top of that BJP has won an  absolute majority and dictation of provincial political leaders will end with that . This may have an  advantage  for us and Central Government may take decisions  considering the national interest .

However , to make this turn to our advantage we will have to see how SL government behaves . If they are trying to play cheap  politics as they did with congress government , thinking of better improvement of our foreign relationship with India would be a dream .

in sri lanka regime change will not give any real change because whole bunch of this aging and corrupt politician will switch to the other side for money. so we will see the same old rotten corrupt faces in the cabinet and parliament. Also we will see their sons ,wives, daughter ,brothers son, illegal wives etc in the parliament .so same saga will continue.

The nature of human being is they need changes . Let the change is going to be good or bad is not important but change is the need . If same thing is going on for years and years people get fed up of it . That is why we hold elections every 5 or 6 years . India and America hold their elections every 5 years and 4 years respectively . Another important point is we can't come to a pre judgement that the people waiting to come to power would be worse than this and as such better that we continue with present regime .

If Indians also thought in the same manner BJP would have never come into power and existing corrupt regime would  have continued forever . Do not forget Indian politicians are more corrupt than ours and even past BJP government faced corruption charges . They too have nepotism as we have and  still they opted to it .

Another point I would like to state is that in the world nothing is available that cannot be changed . Every thing could be changed and get changed .
