Does the SEC going to extend Credit clearance up to end of year instead of End of June and T+5 force selling to T-15? Smell like that... any one else heard?

I hope not. What markets hate most is uncertainty.

If the SEC comes across as fickle-minded, that would give a bad impression. It would be better if they stuck to their decisions.

As SEC head complets the 1st year in Office , she may intend to give us a gift.

The 30th JUNE credit clearance dead line should not be extended, we should start a new leaf of life on 0 level from JULY instead of (-) credit, then SEC can decide upon extending the T+5 to T+10 or somewhere closer and strictly monitor all the brokers on monthly basis for their client account credit provisions, this will help to maintain the CSE on solidity and prevent any BUBBLE situation in the future.

at the moment T+5 [for sure its like getting fired by T 56] is a good move from the perspective of the sustainability of the market & from the other side I guess its not to the much joy of retailers...

Cheers ..Madam Indrani Sugathadasa,...I appreciate your good effort & timely intervention on preventing a Possible Bubble Bust...go ahead & I propose its time to relax some rules from JULY...! Let me propose an option...relax the T+5 to T+10 or T+15 with calculating & adding Interest to credit from T+5 onwards to the date of full clearance & if unsettled by T+15 then as usual go for Force Selling...!.

I also got this news (rumor) through my broker but he also not sure about it.

In my opinion..no point in extending credit clearance deadline. If SEC stick to its deadline we can start July with clear idea and we can interpret how other factors effect on the market.

If it is extending that's means there is huge credit still left and CSE cannot bear its clearance even after giving 9 months.

Hope any extension to T+5 would be very bad news for the people who have lost their money to follow the current rule, therefore it should be avoided.

Further, this would be read as the regulators are not sure about what they are doing, so its not a good move. Its like the people work under an employer who has vague plans.

It is not a bad idea. If SEC Can estend the T+5 to T+10 initially, may be after end of June and monitor the situation for sometime and if they see any improvement they can extend it to T+15. I think it is a fair decision and good for all types of investors who will definitley welcome this idea.

In current context 5 days is a little time period and hardly any time to see any price movements unless you have some luck during the 5 days. Once we reach T+5 even we do not like, the selling presure is there and we tend to sell shares to avoid our names being given to SEC. (According to my broker) for defaulting the payments.

I think, most of the investors use their credit to buy shares (SEC Can do a analysis on this area to see the amount of credit being used by investors daily basis to get an idea)and suppose 90% investors sell at last moment to avoid T+5 SEC can understand the gravity of impact on ASI due to T+ 5 rule.

This is my personal opinion and wish to hear any comments on this topic which I found very interesting.

Also upward movement of ASI during last two days may be partialy due to this rumour (Only a guess)?

Overall trend is upward………….. .. however, there is a slight downward movement due to credit issue in June,………… real upward growth could be seen in… August September.

Normal upward trend …. .. without having any concerns may be expected beyond 2012…..

I think whether decisions are good or bad, once they implemented they need to stand by it, ( i hope they implement after careful study and on ad hoc basis ), because investors not like rules being change from time to time

UNDER THE STRONG LEADERSHIP AND FIRM DECISIONS, PEOPLE, COMPANIES AND EVEN COUNTRIES DEVELOP FASTER. THEN ONLY THE PEOPLE KEEP TRUST ON THEM; DO INVESTMENT WITHOUT FEAR.
NO ONE CAN CURE THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE ALREADY BURNT THEIR FINGERS. IF SEC RELAXES ITS RULES NOW, THAT WILL AFFECT THEIR HEART EVEN.
So... let the tsunami go away as scheduled.
But, the extension of T+5 up to T+15 and stat of interest after T+5 would be a very good move as 'sold notes' get delayed due to postal disturbances as well. This could be done after June
Interest is at last, proved to be a blood cancer, I think.
I HOPE PEOPLE SHOULD LIVE IN AN INTEREST FREE WORLD.
