I think most probably Electricity companies and Oil companies will be given subsidies from government.

Government will let infrastructure developers discourage in this massive development phrase???????

Dont you feel???. Who sold share of MEL knowing the government announcement from inside sources will be crying now.

my advise is; dont worry who hold OIL company and power company shares.

just an opinion.

Sorry mate, I haven't done any research on MEL.

VPEL would be the one that benefits most from the recent tariff increase, Their whole 21MW is on avoided cost tariff, which means their revenue is going to shoot up by the same rate the tariff is increased.

Although both PAP power plants also under the same tariff scheme, their Manelwala power plant is not performing well. even yesterday the plant was closed (refer the plant factors given in their website, plant factor zero means plant is not operational http://www.panasianpower.com/#2 )

Other energy companies also has power plants coming under avoided cost, but not their full capacity.

The recent tariff increase is about 29%, since the direct cost is almost fixed in this industry, we can safely assume a 35% upward shift in VPELs future performance,in other words the share price should go up by 35% (or at least 29%) to reflect the new earning potential.

Forget about one or two quarter losses in a bull market. CIC had one quarter loss. It was traded below Rs.50. Now it is trading around Rs.83/-. In a bear market even shares prices of profit making companies will go down.
