No sri lankan broker can facilitate such. You will have to contact us stockbroker and get registered. When funds are remitted, exchange controller of cbsl should approve. You may do a telegraphic transfer which will b facilitated by a bank.

why do you want to buy same stock that is listed in CSE from New york market?
unless you are thinking to invest in US $, this is unnecessary.
If you are that rich, better buy US stocks. ????
Paying extra commission, and currency conversions would make extra burden as well. Isnt it?

I know in USA, AUS, ENG and other developed counrties, Banks themselves act as stock broker agents and they have their own stock trading software links to your bank accounts. It is so easy to do buying ans selling online as there is no middle man like we have. we can trade in any stock exchange worldwide.

if our banks could improve their services as such, we would all get the benefit.

I think, first we've to get the approval of Ministry of Finance, if then we have to apply for Exchange control exception from the Exchange Controller. (But I don't know exact procedure, this is what I heard)

@ Pethi, if our banks also give that service is good. But, I think in dealing with such system, we're not actually having any shares, its just like VSTOX game. Its virtual, just buying and selling looking at a chart. (And some're giving higher leverages as well, so if you're a good trader you can earn, if not you can loose all your money or loose more than you invested.)
If we're genuinely want to invest, first we've to get registered with the relevant stock exchange, which we hope to invest.

Correct me if I'm wrong....

it is not like VSTOX, banks are linked to the stock market directly.
I have seen and have traded in with Australian market through banks in Australia. tools they give is as same as DFN.

but may be what you say is correct if you want to buy shares from overseas  market.
to trade with overseas markets, As you said we need to get the permissions and approvals.
investing on these markets could make you very rich/poor overnight.
so it was very stressful/ so I gave it up.

Good if they're doing.. So you got all approvals ?? Very Happy

But many're market makers. Their platforms much more complex than DFN. They connect many world famous stock markets, metals, energy, commodities, forex..... markets lively, so, we can trade lively. But those all're virtual. Better stay out from those...
