More concessions will be offered.... but who cares ...who can guarantee every hike or reduction is as per the budget. all prices of essential commodities have been changed outside budget proposals....the budget is now limited only to a speech and nothing else. fags alcohol prices go up before budget, lpg petrol and diesel change every now and then.... so nothing within budget. its only a political circus.dont put too much stress and importance on budget of GoSL and buy shares Very Happy

Utmost requirement is protecting local farmers providing them tools, fertilizer & technology. Also, efficient plan of buying farmers' products at a reasonable price eliminating intermediaries. Benefits should be given to export oriented manufacturers to enhance the product standard & volume of output facilitating to penetrate new markets. This will meet the part of budget expectation that will pave the way to coming election.

It is also worth to hear the plantation sector management companies.....

Plantation rally will start once GoSL give tax reductions on tea and rubber machinery imports and allow duty free vehicles such as D/cabs and transport vehicles ... which will give a level playing fields against other countries and to stay profitable.

there was an article about Rohan & Mahinda Samarasinghe regarding the much awaited CESS fund to be made available bounce
Probably yesterday on an English newspaper..

This would be welcome news

And I don't think Govt. can reduce fuel / electricity prices further,as it's impossible to bear the cost.
However, if so, its definitely short term targeting Presidential election..

Definitely good for manufacturing companies. Companies depending on import trading will have a hit. Govt encourage inland manufacturing rather than importing. I don't think there is a hike in levies on motor vehicle too. Probably they will not touch that sector. As Govt explain this will be a budget which aims the presidential election so called a peoples' budget. Rubber industry will have a little relief with a minimum price. Rubber imports will be levied hugely.

But shark there is possibility of reducing rates since banking credit to the public has been dipping. Govt expect more credit to the private sector / investments.

.
Since they expect a positive credit growth in this quarter interest rates will remain as it is.They will reduce further if they do not get expected credit growth.According to some leading banks now they are experiencing a reasonable growth other than pawning.

If tax on essentail goods are to be reduced; the govement should impose taxes on luxuries like motor vehicle. In SL MVs are luxuries unlike other countries
