The Colombo Virtual Stock Exchange (VSE) that has been recently unveiled by Sri Lanka’s Global Media Networks recently with a vision to increase investor participation of Sri Lankan capital market is growing to be the ‘Most Innovative Virtual Exchange’ model in the world that could improve market development and is a model that could be used for financial professionals’ training in any country, top analysts in the global capital market industry outlines.

Colombo Virtual Stock Exchange or VSE that comes with mobile application on Google App Store and Apple App Store is a simulated stock market portal conceptualised, created and designed by Global Media Networks Ltd. (GMNet), a limited liability company, established under the Companies Act No. 07 of 2007.

VSE utilises publicly available stock market information and other macroeconomic factor of the Sri Lanka stock market to create a simulated training environment for stock market enthusiast and investors to learn and practice stock market trading.
Virtual Stock Exchange has integrated an order execution system named as Virtual Trading System (VTS), back-end administrator portal named Virtual Depository System (VDS) and Virtual Bank Account (VBA) to create this unique simulated trading environment.

Integration of the Virtual Bank Account to the simulated environment provides a unique feature for players to learn to adjust themselves to diverse investment scenarios through switching of their investments to varying asset classes such as debt and equity whilst monitoring the performance/growth of their respective portfolios.

Sri Lanka is fast transforming as an emerging economy from being a frontier economy after it won war against terrorism that took away country’s growth fortune for over 30 years. Now Sri Lanka is poised towards a rapid economic growth with a rapid infrastructure development plan and expects to become a $ 100 billion economy by 2020 transforming its’ nearly $ 60 billion economy by almost over a 60% growth in country’s GDP for next five years.

In this scenario according to global media networks officials the capital market industry plays a vital role in bringing new capital to the business ecosystems and the overall economic ecosystem of the country.

Having pioneered the No. 1 stock market news and live discussion platform for equity investments in Sri Lanka – Sri Lanka Equity Forum that has a strong base of a social network, Global Media Network’s Director/Chief Executive Director Jit Wijayapura said that Virtual Stock Exchange to date connects more than 12,000 stock market investors keen on investing in Sri Lanka’s listed stocks from around the globe via Sri Lanka Equity Analytics Forum. He said further it helps them discover value and political-socio and economic climate and the dynamics of the country.

“Thus entirely our Virtual Stock Exchange is a catalyst to boost stock market activity in capital market ecosystems around the globe composed of regulators, any listed stock exchange in any country and in this case Colombo Stock Exchange, stock brokers, foreign and domestic institutional investors, foreign and domestic retail investors,” Wijayapura pointed out.
The company has also ventured into a stock market game titled ‘Virtual Stock Exchange that is currently available for download via Google App Store and Apple App Store that is freely downloadable.

Wijayapura went to explain that in return Virtual Stock Exchange (VSE) and its sister company Sri Lanka Equity Analytics stimulates economic activity and jobs through three broad effects: as a tool for the stock brokers and stock market analysts and investors, as a platform for startups and app development and as a catalyst for connectivity of investors and society in modern internet era to invest and enable more participation in equity investments of any country.
Sri Lanka Equity Analytics is a financial portal designed to address varying needs of the investment community of Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) and had been live since July 2009. The Portal is already gaining momentum among international investors to attract equity investments to Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka Equity Forum had been grown steadily with over 245,000 articles in 37,000 subjects relating to the Colombo stock market and boasts over 1,500 live members during active trading hours. Since 2008 the local individual investor contribution to Colombo Stock market turnover increased from 22% to 40% in 2014 and Sri Lanka Equity Analytics had been one of the driving forces that mustered retailers and billionaire investors to connect with market according to analysts.

Jit Wijayapura said that by 2020 as Sri Lanka move towards to a $ 100 billion economy and that they estimates that VSE along with Sri Lanka Equity Analytics enables nearly $ 23 billion or Rs. 3 trillion valued Colombo Stock Exchange with 296 companies to increase in value to at least a $ 40 billion or Rs. 5.2 trillion in market capitalisation while creating more job opportunities and economic as well as business opportunities in capital market ecosystems locally.
He concluded that Virtual Stock Exchange (VSE) is a business model that focuses on tools that allow capital markets to reach new and existing clients growth through discussion and social analysis on stocks and companies of a country compared with other economic factors such as interest rates, and inflation. These tools help businesses from the least technical to the most such as grow the stock brokers’ sales and add more investors and ultimately employ more quality and qualified professionals with various talents to the capital market industry.

It is nice to see the media recognition of the Colombo Virtual Stock Exchange (VSE) the latest training product of Global Media Networks Ltd.

I am sure regulator would licence this exchange the same way they have licensed the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE).

Good luck to Colombo Virtual Stock Exchange. You can visit the page through below link
