Access Engineering enters Djibouti for road and port construction business

Access Engineering PLC has further extended its international presence by opening a branch office in the Free Zone of the Republic of Djibouti to explore possibilities of road and port constructions in Djibouti.

“We are exploring the possibilities of road and port construction in Djibouti. We already have an engineer posted there to go through and process projects as and when they come,” Access Engineering Managing Director Christopher Joshua said.

He said that his company was given a license to operate in Djibouti following an introduction by China Merchant Holdings International Co. Ltd., which operates the Colombo International Container Terminal and has conducted business with Access Engineering.

Reports said that China Merchant Holdings obtained 23.5 percent of the shares in the Port of Djibouti for US$185 million, and is in the process of expanding it with an investment of US$ 400 million.

The international interest in Djibouti is due to its strategic location; as the entrance to the Red Sea, and therefore the shortest route between Europe and the Far East runs through a narrow strip of ocean between the small East African country and Yemen.

Joshua further added that Access Engineering is also contemplating civil engineering work in neighbouring Ethiopia.

ZPMC Lanka Company (Private) Limited; the joint venture between Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Company Limited of China and Access Engineering PLC, in engaged in a contract for commissioning of three 65T Ship to Shore cranes at King Abdulla Port, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The scope of the work includes offloading the cranes, making the 11v electrical connection for the QCs and completing all the necessary requirements of the container handling equipment, commissioning, testing and handing over the equipment.

ZPMC Lanka Company (Private) Limited, which was incorporated in 2013 by Access Engineering PLC together with Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Company Limited of China, the world’s largest container handling equipment manufacturer, provides total maintenance solutions for container handling equipment and facility maintenance services to the port sector in Sri Lanka and the region. A qualified and well experienced commissioning team has commenced work at King Abdulla Port, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and begun the assignment scheduled to be completed by April 2015.

When did foreign buying become an indicator for valuating a company?

And yes because stock brokers are always right and you never hear horror stories about people following their advice and losing their money

As long as AEL continues the path they are on right now there is no hope. The company is losing their profits, it's as obvious as it can get.
