Mar 06, 2015 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's Softlogic Capital on Friday obtained the shareholder approval to reduce its stated capital, a statement said.
The decision has been made at an extraordinary general meeting which eventually intends to reduce the accumulated losses of the company.

According to a previous statement issued by the company, the amount of reduction of the stated capital is 618.46 million rupees and the new stated capital is 2.88 billion rupees.

"The number of ordinary shares in issue would remain unchanged." the company said in a stock exchange filing released in January.

Why would shareholders agree to this, wont there shareholding value decrease ? can someone explain have not been following soft

In a capital reduction shareholders lose value as the share will plummet due to restructuring. I will buy Softlogic Capital after the completion of the capital reduction.

Article says outstanding amount of shares would remain same so i am assuming this is not a share buyback , Stated capital usually equals a stock's stated value times the amount of outstanding stock
so by doing this wont existing shareholders lose value ? so why agree to this
i am sure i got something mixed up , any expert could you clarify this to me Very Happy

Share price will come down upto the date of reduction thereafter it will increase. Theoretically you will not make any money but in a real life situatio you will make money based on market sentiments. So I am expecting a decline in share price upto the date of reduction,
