The Inland Revenue Department has taken steps to formulate tax audits efficiently.
Speaking at an event, Commissioner General of the Inland Revenue Department Wasantha Manchinayake said that close to 22,000 portfolios citing reasons for the failure to pay off taxes have been stacked up at the department.
A five-storey building will be allocated for the purpose of formulating audit reports at the Inland Revenue Department. The aim of the programme is to provide a favourable environment for the auditors to formulate audit reports in an efficient manner.
The Inland Revenue Department says that through this programme to expand the activities at the department, it aims to attract revenue for the government and also to double profits.local news
