Reason:
1. Elections coincided with the period of quarterly statement release, market was already bullish coz consumer spending driven stocks and a few others had some good results this time around (its the government policies tablets "drugs" slowly kicking in, my opinion
2. Elections too place right at the end of time financial statements were to be released, that gave the run extra life and spirit, so it was like the stock market was running on an extra pump. if you get what i meant.... there were two runs simultaneously happening though it appeared to be one.
(i dont know if am explaining it well, but best practical example i can use is, you are running a 200m race, you have practiced well and everything is good, at the 150 mark your favourite song plays, you get pumped up and run faster without noticing you reached 225m, like it or not you have to come back to the 200m mark again)
3. Credit clearance
1 + 2 + 3 give a pull back.
If you did not expect it, dont blame the system
Im very much a rookie, but having followed the market in the last year this was on the cards.
Cheers!
