I dnt think its vice dicision to invest in poultry in longterm, its highly periodical & changing on commodities and utilities. I think banking & finance is better than any other. COMB HNB SAMP & LFIN Wouls be a better choice.

There are different types of stocks in the market such as cyclical and non cyclical stocks. There will be great demand for non cyclical stocks (defensive stocks) during final stage of bull market. Even during period of uncertainty, investors will create demand for food stocks. It is always wise to buy fundamentally sound stocks. If it is out of favour stock we should buy it only if we see any turnaround situation or if we see strong fundamentals in the future.

There are some strong industry cycles as well such as banking, motor, tiles, chicken and other manufacturing cycles etc. Some industry cycles can last longer period depend on the situation like today which we are going to see thanks to higher USD in 2016/17/18. Some sectors will make fortunes.

One of the best options is to invest in stocks that we can understand.

Other option is to include both cyclical and non cyclical stocks in our basket.

Momentum investors will go behind momentum stocks. Growth investors will buy growth stocks paying higher premium.

Strong bull market will create demand for all types of stocks. We haven’t seen some of the strongest move in this bull market. We should see it in the remaining stages of current bull market. I expect this from October 2015 onwards. We will wait and see.

ALPL has the lowest P/E ratio in manufacturing sector

SAMP has the lowest P/E ratio amoung commercial banks

CINS below 1400, biggest Sri Lanka insurance company. There overseas ventures are doing very well n education and health care business also posting healthy profits.
