What a difference a couple of months can make. Shrugging off global-growth fears that dogged the market back in August, Wall Street managed to log one of its best monthly gains in years.
Although the main U.S. indexes finished Friday’s session lower, their monthly rally marked one of the best returns for equities in four years. The gains notably survived hints from Federal Reserve policy makers that interest rates could rise in December, ending a yearslong stretch of easy money policies that helped power Wall Street’s rally.
