Annualized Forward EPS = (35 Millions / 62 Millions) * 4 = Approx 2.25

I have an unresolved question about the performances of SFL.

(edited 2 times)

Segment profits comparison 1st 6 months 2014 and 2015

Segment --- Profit 2014 --- Profit 2015  in millions 1st 6 months
(page 8 Sept report)

Finance Leasing  126 ---- 79
Hire purchases--  96 ---- 71
Loans ------------ 144 ---- 113
Pawning -----------7 ---- 4
Investment --------15 --- 24

Only Investments sector has shown a progress of 9 million.
All other sectors , profits gone well below last year.

In total, they have gone down in businesses from 2014 to 2015  by 100 million LKR

Somehow, at the bottom line  they show an increase of EPS

  1.34 (2014) and  1.73 (2015)

There were unallocated losses of 327 million in 2014 and 213 million in 2015. Due to balancing of losses the real picture has gone unnoticed ?

The most sensible reply in this thread is Chinwi's. If his quoted information is correct then isn't this a risky venture for a financial institution?

I can See 85 Millions ++

Other Unalocated - Credit Loss and Expenses.

please give me idea about this.

I think this is they collected money which is abandon as a credit loss from previous years.

please explain.

I can see Credit Loss and Expenses under Finance and Loan sections 52 Millions and 63 Millions

they can improve these sections also.

please compare 7th Pages 2015.06.30 and 2015.09.30  then you will feel some improvement

No. It should be the otherway .  You have to produce the correct amount for 2015 (present)  and divide 2014 (history) by 10  for comparison.

---

EPS as latest report , earnings for first 6 months was 55.2 million. Divide by shares in issue , 69.6 million,

55.2 / 69.6 = 0.79 for 6 months.  For 12 months 0.79 x 2 = 1.58

ok I will come to your way.

 2014   44.4/6.96=6.3/10=.63      For 12 months .63 x 2 = 1.28

2015 Anualised EPS 1.58  2014 Anualised EPS 1.28

1.So improved anualised EPS.
Further check its 4th quarter past EPS.It's always excellent. So real anualised EPS will be high.

2.Everyone agree that net income improved

They have to improve on credit loss expenses.

SFL is not crap share like TFC or CIFL.It is improving.I am not recommending to buy SFL.

There are good undervalued financial companies(VFIN,LFIN,PLC,CFIN... at the market.

In SFL they are like non voting shares.  Purpose of the issue of those shares was to increase core capital as per Central Bank requirements.

SFL preference shares always get 10 cents Dividend each year in addition to any other dividend given to all shareholders.

Hence, I included them in the total no of shares.

10 cents figure was there with pre-split share. At splitting they did not mention  it.  Hence still the 10 cents per share should be available .

Because the rule said, "Preference Shares  have the right to an annual dividend of Rs.0.10 per share in addition to receive any dividend declared and paid to the Ordinary shareholders. "
